Success of Wieck Media's Automotive Online Newsroom in U.S. Drives Launch of Companion Website in Australia
Global Automotive Brands Sign on to Autodeadline.com.au Website Debuting at Australia's Melbourne International Motor Show
Dallas, TX February 8, 2006 - Following the highly successful five year growth of Wieck Media's Autodeadline.com website, Wieck Media is launching a companion site to support worldwide automotive brands in the Australasia market. The new site will make its debut at the Melbourne International Motor Show. Automakers already on board include Mitsubishi, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, and GM's Australian Holden brand. The Wieck Australasia team expects many of the other top brands to sign on very soon.
With over 110,000 videos and images downloaded along with companion news releases at the recent Detroit Auto Show, Autodeadline.com again proved to be an important resource for journalists around the globe whose jobs depend on staying up-to-date with the latest industry news. Annual figures for 2005 show Autodeadline.com served over 5,000 registered journalists from all of the leading general business and automotive media outlets. Total image and video downloads for the year total more than 320,000. "It's this level of response and the consistent enthusiasm from the major automakers and journalists that encouraged us on to launch the new Australian site," said Tim Roberts, President of Wieck Media.
Wieck Australasia has been in business just one year and is now starting to win significant contracts. "The momentum of Autodeadline is really building," according to Paul Pearson, Managing Director of the Australasia operation. "We've been approached by a number of journalists wanting to get a sneak peek. We've combined our knowledge of this market with Wieck's proven technology and delivered the most advanced and user-friendly media site in Australia."
Melbourne is the home to much of the Australian auto industry with three of the four local manufacturers and most importers based there. "We've successfully negotiated with the show's organizers to set up an on-site media center, giving us the opportunity to showcase some of the other advantages Wieck Australasia has to offer," Pearson said.
Both the U.S. and Australasia Autodeadline websites provide news releases, high-resolution images, and downloadable broadcast-quality video to support the needs of journalists and broadcasters in search of the latest industry news and information.
Launched in 1991 by a group of United Press International veterans, Wieck Media was founded to facilitate the distribution of news and images to print, broadcast and web news outlets around the world. Today, Wieck continues to maintain a close business relationship with its first client, the New York Times, which enables the team to stay on top of the changing technical requirements of major news organizations around the world. Key clients include Toyota, GM, Honda, DaimlerChrysler, Ford, Michelin, Verizon, Los Angeles World Airports, Southwest Airlines, and The Arthur W. Page Society among others.
