'Tis the Season for Holiday Shopping

Oct 26, 2016 • BY Alysa Franks

Sometimes it's tough to get in the Christmas spirit before temperatures drop, but Neiman Marcus made it happen here in Dallas on Wednesday, October 19. The luxury fashion retailer announced the contents of this year's iconic Christmas Book, and I got to attend the event with two of my Wieck colleagues to witness the magic firsthand.

The Christmas Book started 90 years ago as a card sent to the store's best customers. This holiday tradition has aged like fine wine, because the items and experiences offered this year are nothing short of incredible.

This year's Christmas Book includes the Love to Give Collection, the Fun to Give Collection and a new collection of fantasy gifts for some truly lucky recipients. For the past couple months we've been traveling across the country in stealth mode producing video footage on behalf of Neiman Marcus to showcase this year's lineup of fantasy gifts. As an insider on this project I couldn't tell any of my friends about the cool stuff we were up to until the secrets were revealed.

Without further ado, the 2016 fantasy gifts include:

  • Walk-On Roll in the Broadway Musical Waitress
  • Curated Collection of 36 Caldecott Medal-Winning Children's Books
  • A Week at Three English Estates Experience
  • Private Quarterback Camp with Joe Montana
  • INFINITI Q60 Neiman Marcus Limited Edition
  • For the Optimist: Akola Bracelet
  • For the Pessimist: Mattress With Built-in Lockbox
  • Exclusive GRAMMY Awards Experience
  • Cobalt Valkyrie-X Private Plane
  • Slumber Party at the Neiman Marcus Flagship
  • His and Hers Neiman Marcus Island Cars Featuring Lilly Pulitzer

Not only are these all a dream come true, they are also gifts that keep giving. The purchase of any one of these will benefit a charitable cause, an admirable part of this Christmas tradition.

Neiman Marcus partnered with the Akola Project for this year's gift for the optimist. The Akola Project is a nonprofit jewelry shop with an inspiring mission to empower marginalized women around the world to become agents of transformative change in their families and communities.

Brittany Merrill Underwood, Founder of the Akola Project.

The production and distribution of this jewelry line provides jobs for women who need it most in Uganda, and locally in Dallas. The Akola bracelet featured in this year's Christmas Book is made of hand-rolled paper beads, a recycled glass bead and two accent disks plated in 18-karate gold. For each $25 bracelet sold, Neiman Marcus will donate $25 to the Akola Project to further this mission.

Neiman Marcus also partnered with the GRAMMYs this holiday season to give back. When one incredible GRAMMY Awards experience is purchased, $250,000 will go towards music education programs created by the GRAMMY Foundation. Proceeds from the rest of this year's lineup of fantasy gifts will benefit the Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation in hopes of enriching art education and experiences to youth.

The custom car offered this year is an INFINITI Q60 Neiman Marcus Limited Edition in a rare Solar Mica color. Specially made on the inside as well, the vehicle comes with a Neiman Marcus branded indoor car cover and letter of authenticity. A limited production of 50 vehicles will be available to fantasy gift shoppers. (Although I think the official number went down to 49 after Santa laid his eyes on one.)

As a team, all of us here at Wieck were honored to collaborate with Neiman Marcus on such an iconic holiday tradition. Check out the detailed list of gifts along with photos and videos on this Tritium page we built exclusively for the occasion.
